Fascinating history, beautiful views!

Simply fascinating! I was always in love with London and this tour did not disappoint. The Tower of London was amazing, especially seeing the Crown Jewels, and the cruise was a great way to see the city. It was very relaxing looking out at the streets of London and other boats and we learned a lot about the city from the audio guide. I fully recommend this combo!

Best way to go sightseeing!

This was my first time in London, and it is a wonderful city. The kids really enjoyed the old weapons and armor in the Tower of London. There was a lot to see, and I hope to revisit at some point as the day just flew by! The cruise was a great way to check out the sights without all of the walking, and while enjoying a cold one as well! One of the best city cruises! Cheers!

DESCRIPTION

Tower of London and Thames River Cruise

SEE THE PRICELESS CROWN JEWELS

When inside the Tower of London, a very good way to start your journey is to go and see the Crown Jewels. There, you can enjoy the sparkly royal reflections of unimaginable value. It may take you some time to take in everything as there are 100 different objects present with over 23,000 gemstones. However, the most important to see would be the English Coronation Regalia. Those are the sacred objects used in the coronation ceremony.

EXPLORE THE WHITE TOWER

This beautiful yet haunting castle full of historical mystery is sure to grab your attention as soon as you step in. In the White Tower, you will be able to view the historic Royal Armouries collections. One such collection is the Line of Kings, which has the tournament armor of Henry VIII and the gilded armor of Charles I and James II showcased. Other than the various weapons and armor, you will be able to visit the top floor of the White Tower, where the original executioner’s block from the 18th century is located, as well as an axe that dates back to Tudor times. The current belief is that the executioner’s block, along with the axe, was used in the last public beheading back in 1747.

ENJOY A RIVER THAMES CRUISE

After taking in the historical beauty of the Tower of London, make sure to take the sightseeing cruise on the River Thames which departs from right in front of the London Eye. However, before you set out on a cruise, one of the best views of the famous Tower Bridge can be seen from the Tower Pier located beside the Tower of London. On the cruise itself, you will be able to enjoy various other top attractions in the city of London. View St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, and the Westminster Abbey. You will be able to learn from an audio guide available in various languages. Also, do not forget to enhance the experience with a drink of your choice available at the onboard bar!

Tower of London and Thames River Cruise

Did you know that the Tower of London was broken into only once?

The Tower of London was initially built by William the Conqueror back in the 1070s. William the Conqueror was fresh from his victory and feared rebellion. He wanted to build something big and intimidating that would fill out the London skyline and proclaim his royal power. Thus, the famous stone fortress began construction. The Tower of London was built after 20 years by Masons from Normandy using stone from Caen in France. Throughout its history, the Tower of London was expanded multiple times and pretty much always served its purpose without fail. Only once was it broken into during the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. At that time, the rebels managed to run through the gates.
