TOWER OF LONDON

One of the most famous royal palaces, the Tower of London will enchant you with its thousand-year-old beauty. It was built by William the Conqueror, and the tower is best known for its dark side, as it served as a prison and a place of execution for a long time. Many famous prisoners including Anne Boleyn and Thomas More were imprisoned there. However, the Tower of London was not only a prison but also a place where various royal ceremonies took place, including coronations and arrival ceremonies of new kings. Today it is known as the place where many crown jewels are kept, one of which includes the famous Cullinan Diamond.

CROWN JEWELS COLLECTION

This Tower of London ticket will allow you to access an exceptional collection of royal jewels consisting of over 100 objects and over 23,000 gemstones. The collection includes St Edward's Crown, which is only used at the coronation of a new king or queen during the coronation ceremony, and the Imperial State Crown. Also, the coronation regalia, the sacred objects used in the coronation ceremony, are kept in the Tower of London and were recently used at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

BLOODY TOWER

Next to see is the Bloody Tower, which got its name from the legend that two young princes, Edward V. and his younger brother Richard, were killed at the place back in 1483. Prince Edward was heir to the English crown after the death of his father, King Edward IV, but he and his brother disappeared while staying in the Tower. Allegedly, they were killed by their uncle, the future King Richard III., in order for him to ensure his arrival on the throne. Their disappearance and presumed murder remained unsolved for centuries, and the story became a symbol of the dark history of the Tower of London. Along with that legend, the Bloody Tower was a prison for a long time.

YEOMAN WARDERS

While visiting the Tower of London, you will stumble upon Yeoman Warders, also known as Beefeaters, who are traditional guards of the Tower of London. They are officers of the Royal Guard in charge of protecting the tower and guiding tourists through the historic site. These guardians have a long history, with their role dating back to the 15th century.
